Mommy and Daddy no longer exist in conversations around our house. It was only six months ago that Gibson stopped calling us Mommy & Daddy. And now, Tabitha has stopped. Two nights ago she called James "Dad" for the first time. She has been calling me "Mom" for a few weeks now. The only time we hear Mommy or Daddy is when she is greeting us with enthusiasm...or crying.
Now, Tabitha says, "Mom, wan nanna peas." (Translation: Mom, I want a banana, please.) Or she says, "Look ah my shoe, Dad!" Gibson is still "Gibby" to her, though sometimes she calls him Gib. Almost every sentence she says has someone's name in it, as she is usually telling us something. If you do not acknowledge her, she says it again, but louder, until you do.
So, Mommy and Daddy are gone, but Mom and Dad are here to stay. James predicts that Mommy will return, but I don't think so.
