We officially started school yesterday, and today, only our second day in, we had a field trip to a safety fair in Lexington. It was pretty crowded, but free events always are! They even had free food and treats.

Gibson originally said he didn't want to, but after watching his siblings, he wanted to after all.
Then we went into a trailer to learn about how to evacuate the house in case of a fire.
Smoke is starting to come in from the ceiling.
After escaping the fire, we had treats. The boys wanted shaved ice and Tabi wanted cotton candy.
Then we got to ride in a fire truck.
Tabi got to ride in the front seat.
Then it was time for games!
After the safety fair, we got lunch and then stopped to feed the ducks, like we do every time we are on that side of town (it's a 45 minute drive to get there). We feed the ducks and swans - a new addition! And then we go inside the bookstore to browse and play and use the bathrooms before the long drive back home.
The kids spotted a blue heron in the bushes.
These female ducks were having fun chasing each other and then diving into the water to catch some food. The kids thought it was hilarious.
These swans are new to the pond. They're very pretty and graceful!
We went inside the bookstore where they have fun things for the kids to do. Tabi found the perfect friend - a rainbow narwhal!
And so ended our second day of school this year.
