James' parents were going to fly up to spend Gibson's 2nd birthday with us. When they found out that James had taken the entire week off, they decided they would like to fly us down and share us with the rest of the family!
We arrived in Long Beach Saturday morning and met my parents at In-N-Out for lunch. Gibson thrilled his grandparents by dipping his french fries in the ketchup and sucking it off - instead of actually eating the fry.
Sunday evening, my parents hosted a birthday party for him. All of Gibson's uncles and aunts were there (including a soon-to-be aunt). Joining us as well was the Martin family and the Thomsen's, long time friends of my family. It was a full house!
The party was themed after the Disney movie, Cars. The cake was Lightning McQueen racing down the road towards Radiator Springs with the Sheriff behind the billboard ready to catch him.

We all sang him Happy Birthday as he held onto one of the cars we brought down with us.
Gibson wasn't so sure about the cake at first.

But once he had the cars to play with, the cake was eaten almost all up!

All right! Time to open presents! Gibson likes ripping paper!

But, again, it's much better when you have cars.

CARS!!!

Just LOOK at all those CARS!!
I think he could have played with those cars all night long. He would line up the cars around the table and then put them all in his basket (Lightning McQueen). Later that week, as we were leaving to go somewhere, I told Gibson he could take only two of his cars with him, so he put all his cars in the basket and was going to take the basket with him. After all, the basket was only one car!
Oooo. Balloons! They just might be worth leaving the cars for!

Gibson went crazy with the balloons! They were just his height, and he kept bopping them around and squealing at the top of his lungs. By the time we went back to the Winn's house, he was thouroughly exhausted and ready for bed. I'm not even sure that he sang himself to sleep that night.
